The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team built a 20-point lead in the first half en route to beating Cal State Fullerton 76-68 on Thursday in Fullerton, Calif.

Noel Coleman scored 21 points to lead the Rainbow Warriors (12-10, 4-6 Big West), who won back-to-back conference games for the first time this season. JoVon McClanahan and Ryan Rapp each added 11 points off the bench, and Juan Munoz scored all 10 of his points in the first half.

Munoz’s 3-pointer with 4:44 left in the first half gave UH a 31-11 lead, and the Rainbow Warriors still led 36-24 at halftime. Hawaii led by double digits for most of the second half, with their advantage never getting below seven points.

Dominic Brewton led the Titans (11-11, 4-6) with 19 points.

On Thursday night in Honolulu, the UH women’s basketball team improved to 8-2 in conference play with a 66-61 victory over Cal State Fullerton.

Daejah Phillips scored 22 points off the bench to lead the Rainbow Wahine (11-8). Lily Wahinekapu added 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists, and MeiLani McBee had 11 points for UH.

Ashlee Lewis had 25 points to lead the Titans (7-13, 3-7).

UH next plays UC Irvine on Saturday, the men on the road and women at home.
