Ayla vs Isla debate - Girl Names

Ok. Which do you prefer and why?

[name]Isla[/name] (eye-luh): love it’s Scottish appeal. Bothers me that people may say is-la or ees-la. [name]How[/name] often do you think it’ll get butchered? Also hate that people may think I named her “the Spanish word for island”, which is NOT true, since [name]Isla[/name] is a legitimate Scottish name. Would people honestly think of the Spanish connection or would they recognize it for the scottish heritage?

[name]Ayla[/name] (A-luh, long A): love the meanings of elm tree, moon/halo. I know I’m blending backgrounds here, but I like the different meanings behind [name]Ayla[/name], I don’t care for the clan of cavebears reference, but it’s not bad (NMS, never seen the movie or read the book). But I only like it prn with the long A, not like eye-luh. Is this a problem? Is it ok to prn it as A-luh, and use the meanings of moonbeam/halo/elm tree, even though the correct prn for those is like [name]Isla[/name] (eye-luh)?

Which do you like best, or which causes the least problems?

Thanks!!
