TWIN FALLS, Idaho (CBS2) — A man was injured Tuesday after base jumping off of Perrine Bridge and into the river.
Twin Falls officers got a call from a witness who saw a parachute floating down the river around 2 p.m. The caller didn't see a person in the river, just the parachute.
Officials searched for the missing jumper and called local hospitals to see if he had checked in. Eventually, a witness said they saw a man climb out of the canyon and drive off. The man was possibly injured, according to the witness.
Police verified that the man had driven to a local emergency room.
"Personnel from multiple agencies responded to this incident, taking valued resources from other calls," the Twin Falls Sheriff's Office says. "With a phone call from the injured party, one deputy could have retrieved the chute from the water without tying up other first responders and valuable resources."
"Please call SIRCOMM at 208-735-1911 or Twin Falls City Dispatch at 208-735-4357 or 3-1-1 from a cell phone to report an incident."
