Winners of the 62nd Filmfare Awards were announced at NCSI Dome, Mumbai on 14th Jan 2017. The show was hosted by Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan & Kapil Sharma. Both Dangal and Udta Punjab won 4 awards in various categories, Neerja received maximum 6 awards.

To leagues of many movie buffs, Dangal was the film of the year. This Aamir Khan film based on the life and times of wrestler and coach Mahavir Singh Phogat hit all the right notes. The portrayal of medal winning wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat and their inspirational stories was truly gold.Winner
Directing Aamir Khan is no mean feat. To add to that, Dangal was in the making for almost 2 years. Nitesh Tiwari got the right pulse of this biographical movie on Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta and Babita. His treatment, his visuals and his choice of scenes were pure perfection.Winner
Aamir Khan was the strength, conviction, dedication and genius of Dangal. His performance was a lot more complex than just the striking physical transformation. Udta Punjab was a film that belonged to Alia Bhatt. Her character not kept you intrigued right to the end, and her performance was well beyond her years. Many movie gurus thought that her act in this drug charged movie was easily her best to date.Winner
The show stealer of Kapoor & Sons was Rishi Kapoor. Acting under prosthetics and heavy makeup, he let his eyes do the talking and his senile but colourful act made you both laugh and cry. His act in Kapoor & Sons was truly its strength.Winner
The speech that Shabana Azmi gives as Neerja's mother at the braveheart's commemorative function was the soul of the film. She was pitch perfect as a concerned mother and one wishes more good roles get written for her.Winner
